Spring swimming
The weather is warmer, the lido is getting busier and we are loving wetsuit free swims!
This week there's been more bustle on the decking at Brockwell Lido, where people get changed, drink tea and chat about swimming and life. In the last month the water temperature has leapt from 12° to 15° and new faces are joining the familiar ones.
We dropped the gloves and booties around 10° and now we are free of the wetsuits. I'm still wearing two hats to keep my head warm!
Swimming through winter is endurance. It can be tough to get into the water even after the cycle to the lido and getting into the neoprene. As the water gets warmer our bags are lighter and our distance is increasing. Here's to more sparkling sunlight over the surface and soon it'll be warming us up after we get out.
