Birthday in the Thames

Happy swimming birthday to me!

When lockdown hit my birthday for a second year in a row there was only ONE thing to do - and that was spend some of the day swimming in the Thames at Hampton Wick.  The weather was on the chilly side (it was March after all) and the walkers along the tow path thought we were mad, but it was a truly special way to spend the day. The water was 'fresh' but refreshing, the company was spectacular as usual (we even had encouragement from two small people) and we were even joined in the water by a man on what looked like a hover-board from Back to the Future.  

Swimming against the tidal flow was invigorating and with the tide was delightful. A cold but chilly swim with some extreme 'beach changing' on a muddy tow path, followed by coffee and birthday cupcake from a nearby cafe. 

What better way to spend a day!
