A moonlit swim... with glowsticks!

Hampton Pool, in the borough of Richmond is a heated outdoor lido, open year round. From November to January it opens in the late evening so brave swimmers can take to the water under hopefully moonlit skies. 

We got lucky: not only was the moon out for our swim, it was the last booking of the moonlit season and staff gave out glowsticks to enhance the atmosphere and ensure they went out on a high. 

We arrived early for a change and stood outside the doors with other excited swimmers waiting for the previous session to clear. Upon entry we filed into the large changing room, discovered to our joy that the old £ coins I keep in my swim bag fitted in the lockers, changed into our swimsuits and off we went. 

The pool's twitter feed had flagged faulty heating earlier in the day so we weren't expecting tropical waters, and indeed it was chillier than we expected, but once in the water and moving we had a ball. 

Between the glowsticks, the frosty air and the moon a good time was had by all. Shall we make this an annual excursion?
